Paignton Zoo and Camping Pod!

For our wedding we were given a gift experience for two nights away in a camping pod! We decided to save it and book it in the new year and we thought a bank holiday weekend would be a good time!

We chose Paignton as our location as I knew they had the zoo there and it is one of the best zoo's that I have been to! Although our gift voucher was for two we decided to pay a bit extra so we could take Skye along with us! We discussed leaving her with my mum and dad for the two nights, but both agreed that we would have more fun the three of us and we wanted her to come along with us!

We booked for Thursday and Friday night so it would be a bit more peaceful at the campsite before all the chaos of bank holiday began!

We stayed at the Whitehill Country Park campsite, and it was the best campsite I've ever been to!! The facilities were so clean and so family friendly! I have never been to such a clean campsite!

Our pod was beautiful too! Although obviously very basic it was so clean! ( Can you tell I'm obsessed with things being clean..!! )

We arrived on Thursday afternoon and spent the afternoon settling in and having a look round. Skye was super excited and kept saying we were staying in a fairy house! She loved that we all had our beds together on the floor and spent a lot of time jumping from the spare bed on to our bed!

We decided to have an early night that night so we would be refreshed for the zoo the next day!

Now I don't very often ( who am I kidding .. I NEVER) see 6am but this morning I did!! I was woken up by seagulls stomping on the roof of our pod!! Man they are loud!! Luckily they didn't wake Skye and I managed to fall back to sleep for a few hours!

Once we were all up and dressed, we headed off to a cafe for breakfast before heading to the zoo!

Skye was excited for the zoo and she wandered round excitedly taking it all in! We took her on the train and she even stood next to the peacock! She kept asking if she could stroke the animals! She loves animals and loved seeing things she'd never seen before! She especially loved seeing the baby giraffe being fed milk just like her!

Although she has been to the zoo before this was the first time she was old enough to take things in! It was so nice seeing her enjoying herself and we were so glad that we brought her along with us!

Another part of the zoo that she loved was the wobbly bridge!! Even though she was too scared to walk across on her own she loved being carried across and we had to go on it at least 6 times! lol

She soon began to get tired, so we walked around a bit more and she sat in her pushchair but still didn't fall asleep.... and we all know this makes for a grumpy toddler! Eventually she caved and went to sleep! YES! We managed to look round the gift shop while she napped and Dom chose a pink monkey to get her for a souvenir!

After a long day we headed back to the campsite for a cup of tea and rest, and then we found a restaurant to head to for something to eat!

We decided after we had eaten to go for a walk along the beachfront and to see the pier, it was so nice seeing all the lights at night and smelling the salty sea air!

We were all worn out after a long day and slept so well that night!!

Friday came around so quickly and it was soon time to pack up the car and head home! We had bought a double ticket at the zoo which meant we could go and see living coasts as well so we decided to do that on the way home! Luckily the weather was nice as a lot of this is outside! Skye enjoyed seeing the penguins and we even got to watch the seals being fed!

After a long few days Skye was pooped a slept most of the way home!

We had a great few days away and it was nice driving past the queues on the motorway not being stuck in them!!

Looking forward to our holiday to Italy now!!
