I don't need you mummy!

Why are these words so hard to hear?!

Skye just went to use the toilet, and she marched in ahead of me, stopped at the door and said "I don't need you mummy.." she pulled the door shut behind her and left me stood outside wondering where my baby went!!

It seems like only yesterday that she couldn't even hold her own head up without me, now she apparently doesn't need me!

It so tough to hear as a mum (or dad!) that they don't need you and obviously we know that's not true,  I mean come on she's three, but still ..!!

On the flip side though it makes me so proud how grown up she is becoming, and she's really found her confidence in doing things for herself since starting nursery.

Anyone else clinging on to the baby years, dragging them out for as long as possible?!

Autumn Memories..

I've always enjoyed taking photos (of everything!) and it's become so easy to take quick snaps on your phone that we forget about the expensive cameras sat on the side collecting dust!

So every so often I like to take proper photos on a proper camera, just so I have some super nice pictures and manage to capture Skye growing up in more than just an everyday snap!

As halloween was on a Monday I decided this would be a good day, the weather was beautiful, warm and sunny with a real autumn feel in the air. However as Skye has got older, she doesn't really want to cooperate in my photo shoots I have planned, but bless her she does any way and we have great fun in-between me desperately snapping away!

I love how these photos turned out, even the ones where she looks so fed up!! It's always fun to look back at these posts, I'm still so in love with her first halloween photos we took!

Haha how fed up?!

Skye at two.

As I did a small update last year on things Skye was up to at age 1, I thought I would do another one now so I can remember what she was up to when she turned two!

We have one week left of our little bee being one! I can't believe she is going to be two already! Feels like yesterday she was turning one! The time just flies by.. maybe because we're having so much fun!?

Skye seemed to go from being a baby to being a toddler in such a short space of time, and I'm sure one minute she was saying odd words and the next she was the biggest chatterbox ever! haha!
She says pretty much everything now and is so good and communicating with us, she can always tell us what she wants, and although she is sometimes met with our confused faces we always get there in the end! I love how she has her own little language and sometimes you will hear her chatting away to her toys! So cute!

One of her favourite toys is without a doubt her scuttle bug - She is crazy on that thing! She will go so fast down the hall way and just before getting to the front door she will lift her legs up before banging into it! It is so funny to watch - She also loves to skid round corners on it.. I think she gets this from her daddy!

She also loves her dolls and spends ages putting them on the changing mat and changing nappies! She also loves to wrap them in blankets and put them in to bed! It is so cute to watch her doing things that she has obviously learnt from us!

The other thing she loves is her tea set - she loves to make us cups of tea and coffee! She puts all the cups out and stirs them with a spoon before handing them out to everyone! She even makes sure that she tells me mine is a cup of tea and daddy's if coffee!

She also loves to sing - wheels on the bus is one of her favourites, and she likes it when we changed the words! We change the words to grandad/daddy/mummy/leo/other animals and she will aways say what the different person says! We thought it was hilarious when we said the daddy on the bus goes... and she replied "coffee coffee coffee!" haha!

Other things she loves include books, puzzles, play dough and water! She would play with water for hours I'm sure! She loves playing with other children and loves when her cousin comes to play! Also not forgetting her biggest love Leo! I love how much she loves Leo and the way she pats his back and says "good boy!"
She can also count to 10, and is getting pretty good with her colours too! :D

Skye's biggest achievement this year is quite a recent one and that is that she is now potty trained! She was showing signs of being ready for a little while, so we got her a potty just to get used to the idea. I then decided to just go for it. I will write another post about this another time. But I am so proud of how quickly she picked it up!

Her favourite things to eat have been pasta (still!) sausages and beans. She has become a little more fussy with her food and will only eat when she's properly hungry! Pasta is what she eats the best and fruit. She still loves her fruit which I'm glad about! She is also a complete chocolate monster! Her new love is chocolate coins! She calls them Peppa coins after seeing Peppa eat them on one episode!

She is growing in to such a beautiful little girl and sometimes I look and her and I just can't believe she is mine! She is the most loving and caring little girl and always gives hugs and kisses to everyone!

So I think that's all for now, obviously it's so hard to remember everything as she learns something new everyday! She is so much fun and I can't wait to see how she changes again in the next year!

 We love you Skye bee!!

Big Girl Bed!

So it's been around 2 months since we decided to say goodbye to Skye's cot and get her a big girl bed!

She was just over 19 months when we decided to make the transition, and I decided it was time as she hadn't been sleeping well at all in her cot for a few weeks, but if she came in to our bed she slept like a log!

She likes to spread out when she's asleep and I don't think her cot was giving her enough room and she would wake herself banging into the sides. I must admit I hadn't really looked into how to make the transition or the best way to go about it, we just decided to go for it!

We had gone in to Ikea a few weeks before and saw this gorgeous little bed - exactly what I had been thinking about! It had also been reduced! BARGAIN!! - This bed is perfect as it still has fairly wide sides and a small gap for her to climb in and out, the sides are perfect as they would stop her from rolling out should she ever get to close to the edge! It is also a lot wider than her cot which gives her plenty of space for stretching out in her sleep! One other thing I loved about it, is that it isn't very high so she can easily climb in and out of it herself, which she loves! It is also adjustable so you can make it longer for her as she grows!

Once we had dismantled her cot and built her new bed, we brought her upstairs to see it! She was so excited! Then when it came to bed time she couldn't wait to climb in and snuggle down! I did notice however once she was asleep that as the bed was a lot wider than her cot there was quite a gap between her pillow and each side, so I just rolled up two of her baby blankets to act as little bumpers just to stop her hurting herself should she end up in the corners!!

So after her first night we were all much happier!! She slept the whole night!!

She still loves her big girl bed and I have to say it is the best decision we ever made!

My baby girl is one!

So today my baby girl turned one. ONE. How has a year flown by already? I feel as though I blinked and she went from being a tiny helpless baby, to a little independent girl! She has learnt so much in her first year of life and I'm amazed every day at how smart she is!

I know all mums (and dads!) will say it, but she truly has changed my life. She is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I felt before I never knew my purpose in life, but now I know and my purpose is to be her mama. It truly is the biggest blessing on earth.

It scares me really how quickly time has gone by, and I know before I know it she will be ever bigger and even older and need me less and less each day! While it is such a sad thought it is also a gift to watch her grow up!

So at one year old here are a few things about my girl.

- She loves leopups, like seriously I believe she will be a dog lover! She tries to cuddle him all the time!

- She isn't walking yet, but is happily and quickly cruising around furniture etc!

- She loves going on the swing at the park!

- Her favourite food is pasta and yum yums! Yum yums are satsumas! She named them yum yums all by herself!!

- She has a few known words that she associates with the correct things, such as mum, dad, bear, baby, dog, bye bye and ta.

- She is so so so polite!!  Any time you give her something or she wants to pass you something she will say ta!!

- If she wants a drink she will point at her cup and say "ahhh"

- She says "ahhh" after drinking anything! Lol

- She likes to drink cups of tea!!

- She has 4 teeth.

- Her favourite items are her muslin cloth, bear and baby (for now!)

- She is still breastfed.

- She usually sleeps through the night.

- She gives kisses and cuddles if you ask her to, and sometimes does just out of the blue!!

I hope to put together a post of her first year in pictures but that could take some time to organise!!

Skye you are my absolute world. I love you to the moon and back.

Feeling Emotional..

I lay in bed last night, listening to my baby girl breathing quietly in her cot, fast asleep, wishing I too could fall into such a peaceful sleep. But for some reason I couldn't. All I could think was that she is going to be one.. ONE in a mere 9 days time. Where did the time go? I have been trying to put together some of her pictures from her first year of life and looking back at how small and tiny she was,  makes me feel so emotional.

Now don't get me wrong, I love watching her grow, change and learn new things, but at the same time it's hard to feel like every day she needs me that little bit less.

She is growing into such a little character, and I do love seeing how she has her own little personality and knows exactly what she wants!

I want to make her birthday special and make everything perfect, even though she won't have a clue! I just hope I can do my best for her.

I don't even really know the meaning or point of this post, just felt like I needed to write something down.
